The Baroque church, elevated to the status of Basilica Minor by Pope John Paul II in 1995, is the destination of thousands of pilgrims every year.
From the basilica, you can enjoy an amazing view of the city of Olomouc, which is only 5 km away. On the site of today's church, there was originally a chapel built by an Olomouc wine merchant. Legend says that while searching for a site for the future chapel, he came across a hill resembling the place where the Mother of God appeared to him in a dream. On the grounds of the basilica, visit also the "Holy Hill" Museum with an exhibition of paintings, monstrances, reliquaries, mass vestments, and an exposition of pilgrimage. A short walk from the basilica you will find a zoo with a unique wolf safari!
